Maria Castilla, MD

Dr. Maria Castilla, an SRC Accredited Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery, was born in Bogota, Colombia and grew up in Tampa. She graduated magna cum lade with a degree in Chemical Sciences from Florida State University in 2004 and also obtained her medical degree there in 2009. She attended residency at Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech in Roanoke, Virginia where her interest in robotic surgery first started. Dr. Castilla is dedicated to providing the best surgical care for her patients. She believes in not only treating the disease process, but the patient as a whole.

My patient care philosophy is that the patient is always my first priority. It is my responsibility and duty as a surgeon to inform my patients of all their treatment options so that we can work together to accomplish a desired goal. This includes educating them on their diagnosis and informing them of all surgical and non-surgical options available so that we can come to decision together on the best treatment plan for their condition. I always take time to listen to my patients so that I can get a better understanding of their needs. I strive provide the best surgical care by using the least invasive techniques available to allow patient a faster recovery and shorter hospital stay.
